Xià xuě ne! Jīntiān qìwēn shì líng xià bā dù, lěng de hěn!
It's snowing! Today the temperature is minus eight degrees — it's extremely cold!

There is no snow here, just five degrees — much warmer than where you are. Go inside quickly, don't stand outside!

兄弟聊天

哥，我来了！你家离地铁站很近嘛，我走路来的。
Gē, wǒ lái le! Nǐ jiā lí dìtiě zhàn hěn jìn ma, wǒ zǒulù lái de.
Brother, I'm here! Your place is really close to the subway station — I walked over.

快进来，外面那么冷！你穿得太少了，才穿一件毛衣？
Kuài jìn lái, wàimiàn nàme lěng! Nǐ chuān de tài shǎo le, cái chuān yī jiàn máoyī?
Come in quickly, it's so cold outside! You are dressed too lightly — only one sweater?

没事，零下五度而已，我跑得快，不冷！
Méishì, líng xià wǔ dù éryǐ, wǒ pǎo de kuài, bù lěng!
It's fine, it's only minus five degrees — I run fast, so I don't feel cold!

Nǐ pǎo de méi wǒ kuài, wǒ yǐqián bǐ nǐ pǎo de kuài duō le!
You don't run as fast as me — I used to run much faster than you!

Dà Míng's Winter · 6句白话短文

大明住在北方，冬天常常下雪，气温会到零下十几度，非常寒冷。
Dà Míng zhù zài běifāng, dōngtiān chángcháng xià xuě, qìwēn huì dào líng xià shí jǐ dù, fēicháng hánlěng.
Dà Míng lives in the north. In winter it often snows, and the temperature can drop to minus ten-something degrees — extremely cold.

每天早上，他的妻子都会提醒他多穿几件衣服，因为她觉得他穿得不够暖和。
Měitiān zǎoshang, tā de qīzi dōu huì tíxǐng tā duō chuān jǐ jiàn yīfu, yīnwèi tā juéde tā chuān de bùgòu nuǎnhuo.
Every morning, his wife reminds him to put on a few more layers, because she feels he is not dressed warmly enough.

大明的弟弟住的地方离他家很近，两家只隔了一条街。
Dà Míng de dìdi zhù de dìfāng lí tā jiā hěn jìn, liǎng jiā zhǐ gé le yī tiáo jiē.
Dà Míng's younger brother lives very close to him — their two homes are only one street apart.

弟弟每次来，都不穿厚衣服，跑得很快就进了门，说冷得来不及穿。
Dìdi měi cì lái, dōu bù chuān hòu yīfu, pǎo de hěn kuài jiù jìn le mén, shuō lěng de lái bu jí chuān.
Every time his younger brother comes over, he doesn't wear thick clothes — he runs in very fast and says it's so cold there's no time to get dressed.

大明比弟弟跑得慢，他每次都穿得厚厚的才出门，走路慢慢进屋。
Dà Míng bǐ dìdi pǎo de màn, tā měi cì dōu chuān de hòuhòu de cái chūmén, zǒulù mànmàn jìn wū.
Dà Míng runs more slowly than his younger brother — he always dresses up warmly before going out, then slowly walks inside.

虽然天气很冷，气温在零度以下，但大明觉得有妻子和弟弟在近旁，心里很温暖。
Suīrán tiānqì hěn lěng, qìwēn zài líng dù yǐxià, dàn Dà Míng juéde yǒu qīzi hé dìdi zài jìn páng, xīnlǐ hěn wēnnuǎn.
Although the weather is very cold and the temperature is below zero, Dà Míng feels warm inside knowing his wife and younger brother are nearby.
