Xiao Ming, you didn't come to class today — are you sick?

对，我生病了，身体不太好，不想起床。
Duì, wǒ shēngbìng le, shēntǐ bú tài hǎo, bù xiǎng qǐchuáng.
Yes, I'm sick. I don't feel well and don't feel like getting up.

他多高？什么时候出院？

📍 场景：小芳告诉妈妈小明生病住院，妈妈关心地问情况。
🎯 Scene: Xiao Fang tells her mother that Xiao Ming is hospitalised, and her mother asks about his condition.

Xiǎo Fāng, nǐ tóngxué Xiǎo Míng shì bu shì zài yīyuàn? Tā shēntǐ zěnme yàng le?
Xiao Fang, is your classmate Xiao Ming in hospital? How is his health now?

对，他住院了。医生说他好多了，明天可以出院。
Duì, tā zhùyuàn le. Yīshēng shuō tā hǎo duō le, míngtiān kěyǐ chūyuàn.
Yes, he was admitted to hospital. The doctor says he's much better and can be discharged tomorrow.

妈妈
那太好了！他出院以后，要每天早上跑步，身体才会高。他现在多高？
Nà tài hǎo le! Tā chūyuàn yǐhòu, yào měi tiān zǎoshang pǎobù, shēntǐ cái huì hǎo. Tā xiànzài duō gāo?
That's wonderful! After being discharged, he should jog every morning to improve his health. How tall is he now?

他一米七五，很高。出院以后，我要带他出去跑步！
Tā yī mǐ qīwǔ, hěn gāo. Chūyuàn yǐhòu, wǒ yào dài tā chū qù pǎobù!

Xiǎo Míng's Health Story · 6句白话短文

小明一米七五，很高，以前每天早上都会起床跑步，身体非常好。
Xiǎo Míng yī mǐ qīwǔ, hěn gāo, yǐqián měi tiān zǎoshang dōu huì qǐchuáng pǎobù, shēntǐ fēicháng hǎo.
Xiao Ming is 1.75 metres tall. He used to get up and jog every morning, and his health was excellent.

但是最近他太忙了，没有时间运动，也没有时间休息，结果生病了。
Dànshì zuìjìn tā tài máng le, méiyǒu shíjiān yùndòng, yě méiyǒu shíjiān xiūxi, jiéguǒ shēngbìng le.
But lately he has been too busy — no time to exercise or rest — and as a result he fell sick.

小芳知道他生病了，打电话问他，小明说他身体不太好，不想起床，也出不了门。
Xiǎo Fāng zhīdào tā shēngbìng le, dǎ diànhuà wèn tā, Xiǎo Míng shuō tā shēntǐ bú tài hǎo, bù xiǎng qǐchuáng, yě chū bù liǎo mén.
Xiao Fang knew he was sick and called to ask. Xiao Ming said he didn't feel well, didn't want to get up, and couldn't go out.

医生说他要每天按时吃药，多休息，不要太忙，这样身体才会快点好。
Yīshēng shuō tā yào měi tiān ànshí chī yào, duō xiūxi, bú yào tài máng, zhèyàng shēntǐ cái huì kuài diǎn hǎo.
The doctor told him to take his medicine on time every day, rest more, and not be too busy — that way his health would recover faster.

几天以后，小明的身体好多了，他终于可以出院了。
Jǐ tiān yǐhòu, Xiǎo Míng de shēntǐ hǎo duō le, tā zhōngyú kěyǐ chūyuàn le.
A few days later, Xiao Ming's health had improved greatly and he was finally able to be discharged from hospital.

出院以后，小明决定每天早上起床跑步，不再因为忙而忘记休息，因为他知道健康的身体是最重要的。
Chūyuàn yǐhòu, Xiǎo Míng juédìng měi tiān zǎoshang qǐchuáng pǎobù, bú zài yīnwèi máng ér wàngjì xiūxi, yīnwèi tā zhīdào jiànkāng de shēntǐ shì zuì zhòngyào de.
After being discharged, Xiao Ming decided to get up and jog every morning and not let being busy make him forget to rest — because he knows a healthy body is the most important thing.
